The Ron H Olson Annual Scholarship program is the biggest and oldest resident service in the history of HCA. First launched at three dozen apartment communities in 2006, it now reaches more than 80 communities across Southern California and beyond.
At its inception, the scholarship program had one just one submission category: the Academic Scholarship. Like many traditional scholarships, this scholarship sought to support the cost of tuition for graduating high school seniors and adults attending college or university.
As the number of age-restricted communities in our portfolio grew, we opened a second scholarship category to support residents ages 55+ in achieving their formal or informal educational goals. The Dream Big Scholarship as it came to be known has now supported several senior residents in hobbies, interests, and degrees ranging from hip hop dance to psychology.
