Like many others during the COVID-19 pandemic, we pivoted to provide the same range and caliber of classes in an online format. In early 2020, we launched HCA Live (www.hcalive.org), a bespoke platform allowing residents to join live classes with neighbors from their community and many others, all from the comfort of home. With a simple smartphone, they can welcome the day with a morning yoga class, beautify their homes with pieces from an art class, harness fresh perspective through a theatre class, and so much more…
As with our in-person classes, HCA strives to reduce any barriers to online participation. All classes and any associated supplies are provided to residents for free. Starting in 2021, senior residents were also able to apply for a free tablet through our annual scholarship program in an effort to assist in their pursuit of online learning opportunities.
